The Habaraduwa Police say that statements have been recorded from about 15 persons regarding the theft of 30 vials worth around Rs. 90,000 from the Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health office.
Statements have been recorded from about 15 people, including the administrative family health officer, the driver, a minor, and public health inspectors. According to the police, an extensive investigation has been launched into the theft of the vaccine.
After the vaccination at Rohana College, Ahangama, only 178 Chinese-made Sinophram vaccines remained. However, when the remaining stock of vaccines was brought to the Medical Officer of Health’s office, about 30 vials were reduced, police said.
The Habaraduwa Medical Officer of Health has lodged a complaint with the Habaraduwa Police regarding the theft of the vaccine.
