STF arrested an individual who was equipped for a criminal act, possessing firearms, live ammunition, and bulletproof gear made in Russia and England yesterday (13) in Wellawa.
Acting on information received, Special Task Force officers from the Buttala camp conducted a raid in the Wellawaya area, specifically in Wellawaya, Allapara, Post 01.
During the operation, they seized several items, including one 12-bore gun of English make without a license, one 12-bore gun of Russian make with 22 rounds of 12-bore ammunition, two live grenades of M75 and K400 types, nine electric detonators, a prohibited knife, and a bulletproof vest.
The arrested individual, a 64-year-old resident of Okkampitiya, was also in possession of a chest cover with a plate.
The suspect has been transferred to the Wellawaya Police Station for further investigation.
