A passenger who arrived at Katunayake Airport from Mumbai, India, on a SriLankan Airlines flight has been arrested for sexually harassing flight attendants and behaving in a disruptive manner, reports said.
The Airport Police arrested the passenger this morning (12) and will produce him before the Colombo Magistrate’s Court.
The suspect, a 65-year-old man from Jaffna, holds dual citizenship in Sweden and Sri Lanka. According to the police, he was traveling on SriLankan Airlines flight UL-144, which landed at 12:45 AM today. During the flight, he consumed excessive alcohol and displayed disorderly behavior.
He reportedly disturbed other passengers and later attempted to sexually assault two flight attendants. The airline’s security officers restrained him and informed the pilot about the incident.
Upon landing at Katunayake Airport, SriLankan Airlines security officers, along with airport police, arrested the passenger. He was sent for a medical examination, which confirmed that he had consumed alcohol.
He is scheduled to be presented before the Colombo Chief Magistrate’s Court No. 01 today.
