The President’s Media Division (PMD) announced that State Ministers Premalal Jayasekara (Ports and Aviation Services), Indika Anuruddha (Power and Energy), Mohan Priyadarshana de Silva (Agriculture), and Siripala Gamlath (Highways), all elected from the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP), have been removed from their positions with immediate effect.

According to the PMD, this decision was made under the authority vested in the President by Article 47(3)(a) of the Constitution of Sri Lanka.

The removed ministers had pledged their support to Namal Rajapaksa, the SLPP’s presidential candidate. MP Jayasekara represents the Ratnapura District, MP Anuruddha the Gampaha District, MP Priyadharshana the Galle District, and MP Gamlath the Polonnaruwa District.
