Major General Lasantha Rodrigo has been appointed as the new Army Commander. Major General Rodrigo served as the Deputy Chief of Staff of the Army and will be the 25th Army Commander of the Sri Lanka Army.
With the decision to retire Army Commander Vikum Liyanage without further extension, the Army’s Chief of Staff, Major General Dinesh Nanayakkara, and Major General Chandana Wickramasinghe of the Gajaba Regiment were fighting for the post of Army Commander.
However, the President has appointed Major General Lasantha Rodrigue as the Army Commander.
