The humanitarian aid donation shipment from Sri Lanka, which reached Myanmar on 16 May, was officially handed over to the Myanmar authorities by the Sri Lankan ambassador to Myanmar and the staff on 18 May.
A statement issued by the Sri Lankan Embassy in Yangon said that the relief aid shipment was officially handed over to the relevant authorities at the Asia World Port Terminal in Yangon.
The relief items, intended for the victims affected by the recent earthquake in Myanmar, were voluntarily collected and donated by the Most Ven. Amarapura and Ramanna Monastic Communities in Sri Lanka, in collaboration with a number of government institutions and well-wishers across the country, under the direction of President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.
Officials from the Myanmar Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ministry of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement and authorities from Asia World Port, represented the Myanmar Government at the time of handing-over.
