The National Dengue Control Unit reports that 13,416 dengue cases have been recorded during the first two months of this year.
Community Medicine Specialist Dr. Prashila Samaraweera of the unit stated that four dengue-related deaths have also been reported.
The highest number of dengue cases has been reported from the Colombo and Gampaha areas. Cases have also been recorded in the Galle, Matara, and Ratnapura districts.
Health officials urge the public to immediately consult a qualified doctor if a fever persists for more than two days.
