The Presidential Media Division has said that a Sri Lankan delegation led by the Attorney General has held discussions with the stakeholders of the X-Press Pearl ship that caught fire off the coast of Colombo.
According to the Presidential Media Section, the Sri Lankan delegation held talks with the lawyers and insurers of the X-Press Pearl ship owner in Singapore on Tuesday (18) and Wednesday (19).
The Presidential Media Division further stated that the discussion focused on focusing on the main issues that arose after the incident.
It added that progress had also been made on the assessment of claims and the recovery of debris, and that discussions would continue in this regard.
Compensation has been demanded for the massive environmental impact on the coastline as a result of the shipwreck.
The vessel, which was carrying hazardous chemicals, caught fire off the coast of Colombo in May 2021, resulting in the loss of many of its cargoes.
