The Vadda community lady leader of Dimbulagala Dalukana  K.Lisinona and other aboriginal families staged a protest near the Sri Ancient Pattini Devalaya (Temple) in Dalukana at around 7 am today (28).

Dalukana tribal leader K. Lisinona said that about 800 aboriginal families living in Yakkure, Millana, Kolakanawadiya, Boatta Kudawewa, Ellewewa and other villages have been severely affected by the government’s increase in fuel and commodity prices.
There are about 450 families living in Dalukana village and about 200 families are aboriginal families out of which about 100 families have no source of income to live in and most of them are living on rent and there are about ten families who eat about one meal a day without any income. She said. The aboriginal leader further requested that a relief bag be provided for them.
Some of the aboriginal families, lived on the Dimbulagala hill, selling Bee honey, while others lived by digging up thorns and selling stones, and lost their livelihood to their own kind, she said.
K. Lisinona also said that the aboriginal people have taken steps to make the aboriginal leader Uruwarige’s Vanniya of Dambana people aware of the plight of their aboriginal families due to the increase in fuel and commodity prices.

The protest lasted for about 30 minutes.
