Due to the callous disregard and negligence of the health authorities, the country lost 100 containers containing medical equipment worth 39 billion rupees.
Meanwhile, the hospital service board has decided to ask for the public’s assistance in bringing 10 other containers containing a stock of medical equipment donated to the country by friends overseas, said its director, Ven. Rajawelle Subhuthi Thero.
He said that they decided to seek public assistance to secure this stock of medical equipment before we stand to lose it again. Subhuthi Thero said
The Ven. Thera also said that they are working together with the public to somehow pay the container retention fees.
He also said that this stock of equipment is intended to be distributed to hospitals in the northern, eastern, and southern provinces.
The Hospital Service Board states that if there is a person who is able to make a financial donation for this, they can deposit the money in the Bank of Ceylon’s account number 0071988321.
