The Family Health Services Bureau has announced a special week of vaccination for all pregnant mothers across the country. This special vaccination drive will be commenced from tomorrow (24) for a week, Dr Chitramali de Silva, of Family Health Services Bureau, told Lankasara.
At present 3800 pregnant mothers in the country have been infected with Covid and of these, 850 mothers are currently receiving treatments in hospitals and 27 mothers have died so far, she said.
Therefore, it is very important for pregnant mothers to get the Covid vaccine. She appeals to all pregnant mothers, irrespective of their trimester walk into the relevant vaccination centres in their MOH area without any delay.
