The Samagi Jana Balawegaya today (23) filed a special petition in the Supreme Court against the 20th Amendment to the Constitution. The petition was filed on behalf of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya by the General Secretary of the party Ranjith Madduma Bandara.
The petition is seeking the courts to declare that certain provisions of the 20th Amendment Bill are unconstitutional.
It also calls for the court to determine that a two-thirds majority in parliament and a referendum will be needed to pass it.
