Making the 2021 BASL Presidency election perhaps the dirtiest in the history of the organization, more mudslinging continues leading up to the election, scheduled to be held on February 25. Members of the BASL this week received a paid SMS advertisement by an anonymous source claiming that one of the front runners of the election, respected President’s Counsel Saliya Peiris had engaged in unethical conduct.
However, the move has drawn the ire of lawyers with many taking to social media to oppose the tactic. One lawyer pointed out on social media that though everything is deemed fair in politics, Assassination, Abolishing civil rights of opposing politicians and dis enrollment of colleagues on baseless allegations cannot be accepted.
