Sitara Gunaratna’s first boxing bout

Every child’s journey begins when he or she is very young. Sitara Gunaratna began Kyokushin karate and music as a child. And he accomplished this by attaining his 1st Dan black belt at the age of ten. He is well-known in Germany and around the world as an underground musician, and he has sold three solo albums on streaming platforms so far.

Sitara began boxing at the age of 25. Due to his inability to find a legitimate gym and coach, he began self-training before joining the Dharmaraja Boxing Club in Kandy, where he met his coach, current Sri Lankan Olympic referee Rukman Wekadapola. After 2 years of training with only one sparring session, he was given the opportunity to compete on May 19, 2022.

In his first debut match. In 3 rounds, he won with all points and a unanimous decision from the judges. Sitara only had one sparring session prior to this victory and had only trained for two years, mostly by himself. “It’s not about being a born talent,” he goes on to say. Born talent is nothing; we are all born equal. Looking at me as a guitarist, I was never good, but I put in the work to be phenomenal. If you work hard in life to achieve whatever ambition you wish to seek, you can do anything. ”
