Former Minister Sirisena Cooray has passed away while receiving treatment at a private hospital in Colombo. He was at the age of 90 at his demise.
Sirisena Cooray, who served as the Mayor of Colombo from 1979 to 1989, was elected to Parliament in 1989. Minister of Housing and Construction became party general secretary.
Sirisena Cooray, a political confidant of President Ranasinghe Premadasa, was the Minister of Housing and Construction in the Premadasa government. At that time he also served as the General Secretary of the UNP. He was a revolutionary figure in the 80s and 90s.
