The President instructed the Health Minister and other health authorities yesterday (18) to prepare the service minute for specialist doctors as soon as possible.
During a special discussion held with medical specialists in Parliament, the President directed the Health Minister to complete and submit this service constitution to Parliament by next January.
The discussion revealed that the main cause of longstanding issues faced by specialist doctors is the absence of a dedicated service constitution for them.
The President also instructed the Health Minister to appoint a special committee, including specialist doctors, to draft the service constitution.
A spokesperson for the Specialist Doctors’ Association stated that 18 specialist doctors from various parts of the island participated in the discussion. The Health Minister, Deputy Minister, Secretary to the Ministry of Health, Director General of Health Services, and other senior officials were also present.
Meanwhile, the Executive Council of the Association of Medical Specialists is scheduled to meet either tonight (18) or tomorrow (19) to decide on the trade union actions planned to be carried out by specialist doctors from the 24th to the 27th, he said.
