Security forces took action to halt further development of a building in the Navakkuli area of Jaffna after discovering a hand grenade while cutting the foundations. Identified as a J-R type hand grenade, the discovery prompted immediate concerns about potential risks to public safety.
Authorities investigating the scene uncovered evidence suggesting the possibility of additional explosives in the vicinity. In response to this alarming development, security forces made the decision to temporarily halt all construction activities in the area.
To ensure the safe handling and disposal of the hand grenade, the Chavakachcheri Police sought a court order from the Jaffna court.
Meanwhile, security forces in Jaffna are actively conducting further investigations into the matter to determine the extent of the threat and to prevent any potential harm.
