A second-year student from the Faculty of Dentistry at the University of Peradeniya tragically passed away suddenly today (22) morning due to an undiagnosed and sudden illness.
The deceased, a twenty-two-year-old student named Thivin Sahityan and a resident of the Murukkan area in Mannar, was admitted to Peradeniya Hospital due to his illness.
He had been residing in a private hostel near the university along with two other students.
The two students who experienced breathing difficulties also sought medical attention at Peradeniya Teaching Hospital.
Hospital sources report that the student sadly passed away approximately an hour after being admitted to the hospital.
The Peradeniya Police have indicated that the precise cause of death will be determined following a post-mortem examination of the deceased’s body.
