The Tamil community should cast their second preferential vote for a Tamil common Candidate if Tamil parties in the North and East field such candidate, Tamil Progressive Alliance Leader Mano Ganesan said yesterday.
Declaring their support for Sajith Premadasa, the candidate of Samagi Jana Balawegaya, he further requests the Tamil community to cast their vote for a main candidate in the upcoming Presidential polls.
In a press conference held yesterday, MP Ganesan further said that his party respects the right of the northern Tamil parties to field a Tamil common candidate. However, he pointed out the need to express the Tamil people’s support for a potential candidate who would win this election.
“The difference between us and them is that we appeal to every Tamil community member residing in all parts of the nation, whereas the Northern parties are only confined to the North and the East. Therefore, we appeal to all the Tamil voters to mark their first preference to a main candidate and the second preference to a Tamil candidate in the event such a candidate contests the presidential election,” he said.
