Deshabandu Tennakoon the Senior DIG of western province has suffered injuries following an assault at Colombo city today.He was attacked by group of people and sources said has been treated for minor head injuries this afternoon.
He was coming in plain clothes along the Perahera Mawatha from Temple Tress end. It is said that the DIG was without uniforms and the security personnel in order to evade from identifying himself from the angry people.
However People on the road who recognized him have drop him off. He is being questioned about yesterday attacked and blamed at him over he too responsible for the brutal attack on peaceful protesters.
He was reportedly beaten until he left the vehicle and ran away, sources said.
Now he is being treated in a secure place with high security, police sources said.
