School Students Arrested for Motorcycle Theft in Gelioya

The police apprehended two school students today (31) on suspicion of stealing a motorcycle that had been parked in front of a residence in Gelioya. They allegedly concealed the stolen vehicle in a house in the Dangolla Urawala area with the intent to sell it.

Both students involved in the incident were taken into custody. Notably, one of the students resides in proximity to the owner of the stolen motorcycle.

The 16-year-old student, enrolled in a Piriven school, is believed to have carried out the theft on Sunday (29) at around 12:00 PM, based on information provided by the 15-year-old accomplice.

After transporting the stolen motorcycle to a house in the Dangolla Urapola area and concealing it, the two students allegedly exchanged information about selling it through WhatsApp.

The investigation into the incident was led by Peradeniya Police Sub-Inspector Ekanayake, with the assistance of Police Constables Suriyagoda (74826), Senanayake (88634), and Sandaruwan (99962).

Police have revealed that several CCTV cameras from Gelioya to Dangolla captured one of the students riding the stolen motorcycle. Furthermore, the students had taken measures to remove its number plates.
