Since the the people’s demand is a new government through an election, The opposition leader Sajith Premadasa vowed that they will start fighting fir an election in a free and peaceful democratic way.
The leader of the opposition said that it is clear that conducting public opinion polls to change the electoral system which is currently being prepared is a ploy to postpone the elections and the day when a wave of people will form again and people will take to the streets is not far away.
Opposition leader Premadasa said this in Kandy while speaking to the media today (12) after receiving the blessings of Chief Prelate of Asgiriya maha vihara most ven Warakagoda Sri Gnanaratana thera .
The leader of the opposition said that the number of members of the local government bodies will be reduced from 8000 to 4000, but the problem is not on the number of members but on the fact that those appointed are doing optimal service or not.
The opposition leader further stated that the cabinet is going to work to declare Sri Lanka as a low income country and no cabinet in the world has done such a thing.
The leader of the opposition said that many new reforms are needed to recover the country from the current situation and that the group that destroyed the country cannot do such reforms .
