The ban on cricket was not a result of political interference but was initiated based on a request made by a representative during a Zoom meeting representing the Sri Lanka Cricket Board, Opposition Leader Sajith Premadasa stated at the Parliament.
He urged the government to investigate the matter and hold those responsible for the ban.
Premadasa emphasized the need for transparency, suggesting that the government should uncover the details of the ban by consulting the representative who participated in the Zoom meeting on behalf of the Sri Lanka Cricket Board. He added that similar information could be obtained from the representative of the Pakistan Cricket Board.
The opposition leader accused the government of shielding individuals involved in initiating the cricket ban, holding them accountable for the consequences. He called for a thorough investigation into the matter, stating that if the government protects those responsible for proposing the ban, both the President and the government should be held responsible.
