Leader of the Opposition and leader of the Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) Sajith Premadasa has invited former Speaker Deshabandu Karu Jayasuriya to join the SJB for a new political journey.

The invitation was made during a discussion between Mr. Jayasuriya and Mr. Sajith Premadasa after it was stated at the recent Working Committee meeting that there was no provision in the party constitution for Karu Jayasuriya to become the leader of the party.

While lauding Karu Jayasuriya’s service to the country as well as democracy in the country, Sajith Premadasa said it was unfortunate that the UNP leaders have failed to recognize the value of those who made such commitments.

Although the present leaders have forgotten the service rendered by Karu Jayasuriya to the UNP, Sajith Premadasa said the true UNP members know of the service he has rendered and therefore has requested that Jayasuriya’s ability and talent be used to strengthen the progress of the SJB.
