The brother-in-law of Saharan Hasim, the mastermind behind the Easter Sunday massacre, was arrested in the Kochchikade area of Negombo yesterday on Easter Sunday (09).
The suspect was detained under suspicion of his contribution to the Easter Sunday attacks. The High Court granted bail to the arrested defendant on September 23, 2022, after he had been held in remand prison since 2019.
The police stated that he and his wife were arrested when they were at the home of his wife’s parents as they were suspected in connection with an intelligence tip the police had received.
The arrested husband and wife have been remanded until May 20 after being produced before Negombo Acting Magistrate Nelson Kumaranayake.
