A tragic incident unfolded today (12) as a Russian military transport plane, an IL-76, caught fire and crashed in the Ivanovo region, located northeast of Moscow, according to a statement released by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
The ill-fated aircraft was scheduled for takeoff at approximately 1:00 pm Moscow time when disaster struck. Reports from foreign media indicate that the cause of the accident was a fire that erupted in one of the engines during the aircraft’s ascent.

Tragically, the plane was carrying eight crew members and seven passengers at the time of the crash, and regrettably, all onboard lost their lives in the tragic incident.
Investigations are underway regarding the incident.
