Retired Senior Superintendent of Police Wasantha Kapukutwa was arrested by the Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau last night in connection with an incident related to opening an account in Sampath Bank using a fake ID and obtaining a loan amount of 3.4 million from HSBC Bank using the same ID.
The retired Superintendent of Police, who was arrested, was produced before the Magistrate’s Court on the same night.
After considering the facts, the Magistrate has released him on two personal sureties of Rs.50 lakh each.
The Colombo Fraud Investigation Bureau is conducting further investigations.
