Former MP and Minister of Finance Mangala Samaraweera taking to twitter has said when military is brought into the corridors of civilian / administrative power it is inevitable they will end up wanting to take the role of the Elections Comission as well as the judiciary in deciding the validity of the people’s mandate. “A red light for Sri Lanka from Myanmar” he noted
He was commenting in reference to the military coup in Myanmar and the current situation in Sri Lanka where a number of military officials have been appointed to the administrative and government service under the current government.
