A fisherman in Mannar recently netted three exceptionally rare fish known as “snake fish,” each measuring approximately ten feet in length. These elusive creatures have now become a cause for concern as they have been classified as a species on the brink of disappearance, according to the Mannar Assistant Director of Fisheries.
The discovery of these unusually large snake fish has ignited interest, particularly in the Ayurvedic medicine community, where they are in high demand, particularly in countries like India.
Despite their potential value, the Mannar fisherman has faced difficulty in selling these three snake fish. Other individuals have reportedly taken possession of the fish, leaving the fisherman without the opportunity to capitalize on this extraordinary find.
