Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe is expected to appear before the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) on Friday (03) to provide a statement relating to the Bond scam case.

Two weeks ago the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) informed Former President Maithripala Srisiena and Former Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe to notify the investigators of a possible date in order to obtain statements from the duo in connection to the Central Bank Bond scam probe. The CID had requested the former President and former Prime Minister for a date after June 22.

Accordingly, Wickramasinghe had informed the CID that he would present himself before the CID on July 3. The CID informed the politicians of their need to obtain a statement after the Attorney General Dappula De Livera instructed the Acting IGP  C.D Wickramaratne to obtain statements from Former President Maithripala Sirisena and Former Prime minister Ranil Wickramasinghe in connection to the Central Bank Bond scam probe.

He also asked the Police to obtain statements from Former Advisor to Prime Minister R. Paskaralingam and Former General Manager of People’s Bank Wasantha Kumar.
