Former Governor of the Northern Province Suren Raghavan has requested the Minister of Justice Ali Sabri to release the details stating the exact number of political prisoners in Sri Lanka’s prisons before the International Justice Day next year.

The letter states that the information should be made available before the International Justice Day which falls on July 17 and also requests that steps be taken to hold a parliamentary debate on the matter.

Raghavan said that although various governments had expressed various views regarding the release of political prisoners, no justice had been done to the political prisoners or their families so far.
