The Director General of Health Services today issued a new set of quarantine guidelines for Sri Lankans and foreigners. Accordingly, the major changes that have taken place in the quarantine policy are as follows.

People who have completed two weeks after receiving the full dose of the Covid vaccine will be referred to a hotel quarantine or quarantine center for one day and will be able to return home after a 24-hour PCR test. They do not need a quarantine at home. Upon their arrival, a certified copy of the vaccination card translated into English must be submitted to the health department.

Incompletely vaccinated persons, persons who have not been fully vaccinated but less than two weeks of vaccination, or persons who have not been vaccinated for Covid when they supposed for quarantine in hotels may have stay 07 days instead 14 days earlier. They will be subjected to PCR tests on the first and 7th day of their stay. And if it is confirmed that there is no disease, they can go home on the seventh day. It is mandatory that they inform the office of the Medical Officer of Health in the relevant area and quarantine at home for 14 days.

People who use government public quarantine facilities without resorting to quarantine in hotels should spend a 10-day quarantine period in those centers. They also have PCR tests on the first and 10th day and if it is confirmed that there is no disease, they can go home on the 10th day and go home and inform the medical officer and complete a 14-day quarantine period at home.
