Quadruplets born in Peradeniya Teaching Hospital

A birth of quadruplets has been reported from the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital. The blessed mother who gave birth to three boys, and a girl is a 32-year-old mother of Kurunegala named A.L.T.D. Lansakkara.

She attended the Kurunegala Hospital clinics for the first few months of her pregnancy before transferring to the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital about four months ago to continue her care under the supervision of Obstetrics and Gynaecology Consultant Dr. Sampath Gnanaratne due to the possibility of various risks and complications during childbirth.

Two of the four children have been receiving treatment under the supervision of Pediatrician Pathum Dissanayake at the Neonatal Pediatric Special Treatment Unit of the Peradeniya Teaching Hospital for seven days.

“The two children have been given to the mother by now. The mother and the four children are in extremely good health. In the coming days, we intend to keep them under medical supervision before eventually releasing them.”

“The 32-year-old mother has received medical advice that additional milk will have to be given to the four children as breast-feeding would not suffice,” says Dr. Sampath Gnanaratne.
