Public Security Minister Tiran Alles warned yesterday (16) that the underworld and drug dealers will not spare a single person selling drugs and to leave the underworld and drug trafficking.
The Minister made this warning while addressing a special program held at Ambalangoda Dharmashoka Vidyalaya to inform the Community Police Committees of Elpitiya Police Division.
The minister said that organized crime gangs and anti-narcotics operations will be started in the early morning today (17), the criminals will be found and everything will be finished. He said that the program against drug trafficking and the underworld will be overcome and the existing form will be completely changed by June 30.
The minister also said:
I have to deliver a drug dealer a message. If someone is caught selling drugs from today, I have told them not to spare. My message to them today is to stop selling.
I have a message for the underworld. The people of the underworld know very well that now those big bullies will finally die. How to die Either they are killed by the police. Or get killed by opponents.
Then we see what has happened to the families and children of those who were killed. I will not come and go after that. If there is anyone who knows the leaders of the underworld, tell them to understand this and that no matter what you do, this is what will happen to you in the end.
That is why the message is that if it is not stopped, we will find those guys. When they find out, there is an exchange of fire. Those guys are dying. It cannot be stopped. So, isn’t it better to stop this work and be with your children and family instead of just killing them?
These two messages are to be given to those who sell drugs and those associated with the underworld. From all of us, let’s all join us. You can see what we are doing. Tomorrow we will start operations everywhere. Support us. Give information. Encourage the police. Even for the police officers, when they know that all the public is behind them, they also get a lot of strength. We expect that from you guys. We will do the rest.”
“We are working to implement the law without succumbing to the pressure of anyone of any rank. The police have been instructed to make necessary arrangements for a complete change by June 30.”
We will have to face various attacks through social media against this implemented program. Even now, such a program is being implemented in an organized manner. If anyone tries to discourage these actions with such activities, it will not succeed at all. Many of those who carry out such propaganda are dependent on the underworld or drug dealers. Many people spend money on such activities from abroad. That is what happened in the struggle.
We request everyone to join hands with us without any mistrust in this work arrangement. With its support, no matter what obstacles and challenges exist, this program will be carried forward.
Ministerial Secretary Viyani Gunathilake, Acting Inspector General of Police Deshbandu Tennakoon, Senior DIG in charge of Special Task Force, Senior DIG in charge of Southern Province, Chiefs of Police, government officials, community police committee representatives and others were present for this event.
