A group of doctors, nurses, and patients at Galle Karapitiya Teaching Hospital staged a protest near the hospital premises tpday (19), calling for the arrest of individuals involved in an attempted attack on Dr. Krishantha Perera.
Protestors emphasized Dr. Perera’s significance as a valuable resource for the Southern region, highlighting his crucial role in cancer patient care. The specialist surgeon had been arrested and remanded until Monday (22) in connection with an alleged attack on a minor hospital employee.
Currently, Dr. Perera is receiving treatment at the cancer unit of Karapitiya Teaching Hospital under the protection of prison officials.
