Prof. Maithree Summoned to FCID; Saman Ekanayake Granted Bail

Former First Lady Prof. Maithri Wickremesinghe, the wife of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe, has been summoned to appear before the Financial Crimes Investigation Division (FCID) of the Criminal Investigation Department on the 20th of this month.

The Criminal Investigation Department informed the Colombo Fort Magistrate’s Court of this development today (18).

She has been called to provide a statement in connection with an ongoing investigation involving former President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

Meanwhile, former Presidential Secretary Saman Ekanayake, who had been remanded on suspicion of aiding and abetting the alleged misuse of state funds by approving expenditure for a private visit to Britain by then President Ranil Wickremesinghe in 2023, was released on bail by the Colombo Magistrate’s Court today.
