Private Secretary to Former State Minister Lohan Ratwatte, Sanjeeva Basnayake Commits Suicide at Ratwatte Mansion has tragically committed suicide by shooting herself. The incident occurred this afternoon at Ratwatte Mansion in Mahaiyawa, Kandy, where Lohan Ratwatte resides.
He is the long-serving private secretary to former state minister Lohan Ratwatte.
His body was found in a half-constructed building adjourned to the mansion and his licensed 9mm pistol also was there. Police said its license was renewed last January.
Police sources reported that Basnayake died on the spot. A special investigation into the incident has been launched by the police.

During the investigations over the incident, Police found a letter believed to be written by the victim saying he was depressed and committing suicide, Police sources said.
