The President’s Facebook page appears to have defied President Gotabaya Rajapaksa’s request to not use his image for election campaign purposes.

In an e-leaflet posted on the page, his image was used along with that of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to announce the list of public meetings the President will attend in Anuraharpura to kick start the election campaign of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).

Just days ago the President’s media unit issued a statement saying the President had ordered that his image should not be used for any election campaign purposes.

Meanwhile, the official election campaign of the Sri Lanka Podhujana Peramuna (SLPP) commenced today (03) in Anuradhapura led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. President Rajapaksa is scheduled to attend several public gatherings to be held in the Anuradhapura district to ensure the victory of the SLPP candidates contesting the upcoming general election according to a release issued by the President’s Media Unit.
