President Ranil Wickremesinghe‘s inaugural rally has reportedly violated election laws.
The rally was held in Anuradhapura with the participation of MPs from multiple political parties.
In a circular issued by the Election Commission on the 14th, it was stated that the national flag or religious symbols should not be used in election campaigns.
The Election Commission warned that strict measures would be taken against parties using the national flag in presidential election campaigns.
Despite these directives, the organizers of President Wickremesinghe’s rally distributed large-sized national flags to participants at the event in Anuradhapura.
