A special book exhibition including books and documents of rare and historical value that have been taken from Sri Lanka to foreign countries is expected to be organized in conjunction with the 75th Independence Commemoration, President Ranil Wickramasinghe said today (22)_
The President revealed this when he visited the 23rd Colombo International Book Fair at the BMICH premises this morning.
President Wickremasinghe further said that he hopes to get the support of the Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association for the Independence Commemorative Book Exhibition.
Sri Lanka Book Publishers Association President Samantha Indivera welcomed President Ranil Wickramasinghe who arrived at the exhibition grounds this morning.
Sri Lanka Foundation Chairman Saman Athavudahetti, Book Publishers Association members Vijitha Yapa, H.D. Premasiri, Ariyadasa Weeraman, Atula Jayakodi participated in this event.
This year’s book fair includes more than 400 booths of local and foreign book publishers and the president visited the booths and observed them and engaged in a short conversation asking the book publishers and writers for information.
President Ranil Wickramasinghe also engaged in a friendly conversation with the people who had come to the exhibition grounds.
