Pasting of Particular stickers implemented today to identify vehicles arriving in Colombo within lockdown period has been suspended with the intervention of the President Lankasara learns.
According to the sources the IGP has instructed the senior police officers not to affix the stickers tomorrow (08) and to carry out inspections without making inconvenience to the public.
President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa also observed a traffic jam on his way from Mirihana residence to the Presidential Secretariat this morning (07). Accordingly, the President has addressed the Minister in charge of Police, Admiral Sarath Weerasekera and criticized the practical failure of this program. It is reported that Minister Weerasekera had summoned the IGP and Senior DIGs Ajith Rohana and Deshabandu Tennakoon to discuss the matter without any knowledge of the police. It is reported that following that discussion, the IGP has instructed to stop the program of pasting these stickers.
