President prevents Basils’s move to change Litro chairman Theshara

It is reported that the President has prevented the removal of the Litro gas chairman Theshara Jayasinghe and appointment of Renuka Perera , who was the Administrative secretary of Podujna Party as the new chairman.
Although the Litro Gas 99% owned by the Sri Lanka Insurance Corporation, it’s board of directors are appointed by the Treasury. Minister of Finance, Basil Rajapaksa has changed the Chairman ship of the company without consent of The President sources said.

President Rajapaksa made a visit to the Muthurajawela and Mabima Litro Gas Yard today morning. At this occasion Theshara Jayasinghe had informed the President about his removal and the President had informed him that he was not at all aware of this.

Subsequently, the President has instructed the Secretary to the Ministry of Finance to re-appoint Thushara Jayasinghe as the Chairman of Litro.

Accordingly, the appointment letter of Renuka Perera has been canceled and the appointment letter has been prepared to re-appoint Thishara Jayasinghe.

President Litro recently stated that he was not responsible for the recent gas explosions and that these changes would not take place during his tenure.

Responding to this, former Litro chairman Anil Koswatte said on his Facebook account that Theshara Jayasinghe was an inactive idiot.

As of this morning, however, it was reported that it had been instructed to change the current suppliers who supplied Composition changed gas, that led to major disaster in Sr Lanka’s households and select new suppliers based on international competitive bidding.

Litro chairman Theshara Jayasinghe had earlier called a meida briefing and stated that the gas racket was being carried out on commissions worth over Rs. 10 billion.
