The President of the Court of Appeal, Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne, recused himself from the proceedings related to the interim bans on the activities of the Cricket Interim Control Committee
The motion filed by the Minister of Sports was scheduled for a hearing before a bench comprising Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne and Vikum Kaluarachchi.
The Minister of Sports’ legal representative conveyed the objection to the President of the Court of Appeal hearing the case.
In response, Judge Nishanka Bandula Karunaratne cited recent unfair criticism directed at the sports minister, some cabinet members, and members of parliament as the reason for his withdrawal from the trial.
Consequently, the case is now slated to be heard before another bench.
