Power cut affects to AL exam ! Ranil says students can file a FR petition

Leader of UNP and former Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe today called for a postponement of power cuts until the end of GCE advanced level examinations on March 05. He pointed out that students can file fundamental Rights petitions if they are not facilitated with the electricity supply.

“ Scheduled Power outages are big problem to students who are currently sitting for Advanced Levels,exams. These outages occur at different times in different areas, they can file a fundamental rights petition against this move. Therefore the government should consider on postpone the ongoing power cuts until March 05th. ” He further said Wickremesinghe.

Repkying to Mr Wickramasinghe, Education Minister Dinesh Gunawardena said that discussions in this regard were held Monday (22) evening with the CEB, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka (PUCSL) and the Commissioner General of Examinations. The discussions had focused on a possible solution to the issue, he said.
