Possibility of contracting Covid 19 by sharing pens or pencils: Parents warned

Officials have requested parents to be mindful of children sharing pens or pencils due to the risk of contacting Covid 19. According to Dr. Parakrama Kodituwakku, the Corindating Officer of the Committee to combat Covid 19 there is a possibility to the virus could be contracted through this method. 

He noted that most children are in the habit of putting pencils and pens in their mouths while also often sharing these with their friends in school. Therefore Dr. Kodituwakku said parents should attempt to curb these habits of their children to avoid the possible spread of the disease.

Once schools are allowed to commence the doctor said it was important that children are advised to maintain a meter distance with each other during the interval as well as during class. He also requested that all other health instructions and social distancing rules are adhered to at all times.
