Port Delays – Presidient Intervens

Minister of Ports Bimal Rathnayaka admitted that about 30 cargo ships had been turned away due to delays and Presidient Anura Kumara Dissanayaka summoned and emergancy meeting to discuss the matter , the custom officials explained the difficulties they are facing to the Presidient.

The pressure on container transporters at the Colombo Port has reached unbearable levels, and they are urging the government to intervene to avoid a strike that could cripple the nation’s supply chain they are hopeful that the directives of the President will resolve the issue to some extent.
