Singer Nadeemal Perera, son of popular artist Amal Perera, was hospitalized following an assault during a musical event in Gorakana, Panadura North, on Friday (06).

The incident occurred when Perera stepped downstairs during the concert, where he was attacked by an attendee from another event being held at the same venue. Police have arrested a suspect, a resident of Koralawella, Moratuwa, in connection with the assault.

Additionally, another individual was taken into custody for obstructing a police officer who attempted to mediate the situation.

The music group led by Perera was invited to perform at the event. However, the Panadura North Police reported that neither the holiday resort nor the school organizing the event had obtained prior permission to hold the concert.
