Several politicians who had attended the funeral in Rajanganaya which was also attended by a Covid 19 positive patient are violating the compulsory 14-day quarantine according to the Public Health Inspectors Union. The Union said instead of being under quarantine the politicians have been actively participating in political meetings and other election-related events.

According to the President of the PHI Union president Upul Rohana, only one politician is currently under quarantine and adhering to the advice given by the PHIs. Three others have ignored the guidelines and are freely campaigning, he said adding that this had put the lives of others at risk.

Failing to adhere to instructions of health officials relating to the Covid 19 pandemic is a violation of the Quarantine and Prevention of Diseases Act.

Around 4000 families in Rajanganaya are now in self-quarantine after a counselor at the Kandakadu drug rehabilitation center, a resident of Rajanganaya, and several of his family members tested positive for the virus.
