A chartered Airbus A340 carrying hundreds of Indian nationals, initially held at Châlons-Vatry Airport in France over human trafficking suspicions, has landed in Mumbai.
The plane, flying from the UAE to Nicaragua, raised suspicions during a refuelling stop. Of the 276 passengers allowed to travel, 25, including two minors, stayed in France after applying for asylum, while two suspected traffickers were released by the courts.
Authorities had grounded the plane after an anonymous tip-off about potential human trafficking victims. The flight’s diversion to Mumbai instead of continuing to Nicaragua remains unclear.
