Amidst the rapid spread of eye diseases, which are affecting school children at an alarming rate, the Association of Public Health Inspectors has issued a special plea to parents. They are urging parents to take a proactive approach to safeguard the health of their children and the well-being of the wider community.
Association President Upul Rohana stressed the importance of not sending children to school if they exhibit any symptoms of the eye disease. This simple yet crucial step can help prevent the further spread of the condition and protect fellow students.
In addition to the concerning eye disease, other health issues such as diarrhea, fever, and respiratory diseases are also on the rise.
President Upul Rohana strongly advises parents to provide their children with boiled water and home-cooked meals to ensure hygienic consumption. Moreover, he encourages children to wear masks to protect against respiratory diseases and emphasizes the significance of thorough hand hygiene to guard against eye diseases.
Especially during the rainy season, parents are urged to refrain from giving raw vegetables and salads to their children, as they can pose health risks.
In the event that children exhibit symptoms of any illness, the Association pleads with parents to seek immediate medical attention from a qualified doctor and to keep their children at home until a full recovery is achieved.
